Prince Sultan Applied Technologies Research institute (PSATRI) – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Located in Riyadh as part of the King Abdullah City for Science and Technology (KACST), Prince Sultan Applied Technology Research Institute is considered to be one of the state of the art and up to date research centers for the military and defense industries. The project consists of research labs, clean rooms, silicon chip manufacturing rooms, library, teaching and lecture halls. The project is designed to include optimized MEP systems including energy and water conserving features. JAIN are carrying out the complete MEP design for the project.

Best & Banting Institute – University of Toronto, Canada

This was a major renovation to this well-known Animal Research Facility in the heart of Toronto. The building includes areas for animal testing, storage and breeding. Various considerations were made for climate control, prevention of cross-contamination, disposal of waste and other specific requirements of the various labs within the building. Though the project was completed over 20 years ago, the systems put into the building have stood the test of time and are still in place today without any major modifications.

Med-Chem Laboratories Building - Toronto, Canada

This was a new 80,000 medical lab facility built for centralized collection and testing of blood, urine and other samples from clinics across Toronto. Special considerations within the MEP design included proper filtration, ventilation, sample disposal and computerized record-keeping due to the number of samples being received daily. The project was well-received by the owner and users.

Natural Resources Building, Sir Sandford Fleming College – Lindsay, Canada

This was a new 40,000 sq.ft. academic and research facility for the Natural Resources Department at Sir Sandford Fleming College. The building includes a variety of labs including those for research of Fish, Wildlife and Pathology. The project’s main focus was on sustainable design and included features such as a geothermal heat pump system, heat recovery from exhaust air, green roofs, photovoltaics, solar hot water heating and sophisticated building automation. The project received a grant due to its energy efficient design.
